Labor Story #1 Long Story!

Brandy

So it's been about 3.5 years since my first son has been born and I never shared his birth story so here it goes. I woke up at around 6 am with some pain on my stomach, this was my first pregnancy so of course I didn't know what contractions were like. I had an appointment that day to see my doctor and I was exactly 40 weeks. my husband was sleeping next to me but I didn't wake him cause I wanted to make sure I was in labor. I started to time them and they were about 5-6 mins apart. they were painful but nothing I couldn't handle, I just breathed through them. At around 9 am they started to get a little more uncomfortable, but still managing and I go to use the restroom, my mucus plug had came out and it was bloody. here we are putting my bag in the car so we can head to the hospital cause I felt it was time . we stopped to eat something first because my MIL said they wouldn't let me eat after I got checked in. we stopped at McDonald's and then headed for the hospital. I get hooked up to the mo itors and they check me and say I'm at a 3. they call my doc and he wants me admitted so I get in there and my doc rushes down and was there my entire labor! I'm getting induced so they start me on pitocin and man did those contractions get so intense I needed the epidural. they call the specialist and he was there in 5 mins. I got it but as they were putting it in, I guess they got a nerve or something and my leg went shooting up but they were able to get it in . I felt instant relief and numbness. I started to doze off because I had only progressed to a 5 and my doc said if I didn't start dilating I would need a c section. I started to freak out but the epidural made me so sleepy . the nurses started to notice that my BP started going down and they tried to keep me awake, but I kept going in and out. that was about 4pm. because I didn't get my room until about 1pm but I was able to handle the contractions before I was on pitocin. I slept from 4-10 on and off with the nurses checking me every 2 hrs or so and luckily my epidural did not wear off. I had a little button were I could administer more to myself if I needed it. at 10 pm I woke up and the nurses checked me because I felt like I needed to poop and I was indeed at 9.5 . they started to set up and and they asked me to wait because my doc was in a c

section and since I didn't feel any pain I

waited. at roughly 10:45 pm the nurses asked me to do 3 practice pushes and with those his head was already coming out, then my doc came in ready and asked me to push 3 real times and at 10:57 Jayden Angel Ramos was born 01/19/2016 weighing in at 8 lbs 18 inches
