birth control period

so i just started birth control at the end of last month , and i wasnt really feeling any side affects. then last week i started , what im guessing , is my period. ive been bleeding for atleast 5 days , not heavy a little light. im also SUPER emotional, crying & bitching all week long 😩 . but im not even on the placebo pills , im still on the active pills. im really confused, so if anyone has any idea why this is happening please comment & help a girl outt.
