My twins were born at 35wks and 2 days
Via emergency c-section.
I had all these ideas and plans when it came to not only my pregnancy but my delivery. From day one of finding out it was having twins I was insistent on a vaginal delivery. I was told then only way that was happening was if both my little ones were head down. Well my pregnancy was very eventful, it seemed like every week it was something new. One week I had a hematoma but no bleeding, another week baby B was measuring small, then I was cursed with PSD, after that I was having cervical shorten and had to be put on bedrest (28wks). I stayed on bedrest up until my delivery. This pregnancy was like a game of ping pong. After one thing would get better, something else would gum up the works. Well during my 34th week of pregnancy they notice my BP was starting to creep a little high so they ask me to monitor my blood pressures. Well 34wks and 5 days roll around and my pressures aren’t looking great and I’m not feeling too good. I called my OB and then sent me straight to the hospital. I had officially developed pre-eclampsia. I was placed on hospital bedrest. The plan was to try to get these two precious little babies to stay in one more weeks. At 35wks and 1 day they notice the babies fluid was getting low. They decided waiting was no longer and option. I was scheduled for an induction (because they were both head down) at 35wks 2 days at 4pm. The plan was to place cervidil and then start pitocin after 12 hours. Well my life never really seems to go as planned.
At 5 pm they inserted the cervidil, (I’m already 3cm dilated and 80% effaced) less than and hour later I’m having back to back contractions. My blood pressure sky rockets and they insist I get an epidural. They sit me up to do the placement, it takes this man 3 tries! As soon as he’s finished tons of nurses come running into the room. They put oxygen on me. And I hear OB STAT over the loud speaker. I’m still in massive amounts of pain, the epidural has done nothing and the contractions are constant. They are scambling to find BabyB on the monitor. During my epidural his heart rate dropped into the 80s, he couldn’t handle the contractions. They start wheeling me into the OR and I’m terrified. I could still feel every contraction and everything they were doing. As I was moving over to the OR bed I told them the epidural wasn’t working. They told me they’d have to put me under general.
They put me to sleep and my babies were born at 8:38 and 8:39. They were taken straight to the NICU, where their daddy’s was waiting for them. They took me to recovery and when I woke up I was in pain again! The pumped me full of drugs and placed me on a PCA pump. Finally after recovery they wheeled me through the NICU to see my babies 😍. These are some of our first moments together.
I couldn’t stop crying

My babies are just so perfect! My baby boy Holden was 3lbs 14oz and my baby girl Amelia was 4lbs 5oz.

We still aren’t sure when they will be released from the NICU, but they are doing great. They haven’t needed any assistance with breathing.
I did receive the steroid shots when I was first admitted to the hospital, so I’m sure That helped.

My advice to you ladies:
Be flexible and adaptable during your pregnancy and delivery.
Purchase and bring a breast pump bra holder in your hospital bag.
Bring your abdominal binder with you.
If your babies get taking to the NICU start pumping as soon as possible.
If you have a c-section try to get out of bed as soon as you can.
I’m now discharged from the hospital which is 30mins away from where I live so I’m focusing on pumping till I come up with a routine for visiting.
never give up! We’re twin mommies for a reason, we can do anything!
I wanted to write so much more but it’s already so long, feel free to ask questions 😘
