Is it shady, or normal?

I saw the OB nurse for my intake appointment on the 6th. I already know I'm having twins from an emergency room ultra sound on the 3rd.  while at the OBs we of course scheduled my first actual appointment with the doctor. the nurse was saying that this doctor is leaving in August so I'll only see her until then,  at which point they aren't sure who will be taking her patients yet.  so I'm already kind of annoyed by that but whatever.  the nurse implied that this doctor leaving came as a surprise to the clinic and has thrown things into a bit of turmoil.  we settled on the 26th for my first actual appointment.  I got a call yesterday saying we need to reschedule because the doctor will be out of town on the 26th now.... we moved me to the 2nd. that will be 10 weeks 2days for babies.  I know 10 weeks can be a pretty normal time for your first OB visit,  but after all the weirdness so far with this doctor I'm getting pretty frustrated.  because it's twins I know I'm supposed to be seen more often.   I know part of it is just me being a worried mommy.  I just want to know they are both ok and making me wait even longer to check up on them is really maddening.  am I just being silly or is this doctor kind of shady?

Eh, I wouldn’t say “shady.” A bit concerning definitely. If you’re uncomfortable choose a different doc. 10 weeks is pretty common though for first appointment, I wouldn’t be too concerned about that. Maybe go to that first appointment and if you’re not happy find a new place? Good luck!

Had you not had your emergency sono that would be the typical time for a first sono (8-10 weeks) so you wouldn't even know you were having twins til then. With my twin pregnancy I was treated the same during my early months. I did start having more frequent visits sooner but that still wasn't until I was close to the end of my second trimester

The twin pregnancy dr didn’t see me until around 18-20 weeks i was just seeing my regular dr til then thats how far along they switch your dr normally

If you’re having Di/di twins that’s probably ok. My doctor didn’t want to see me for my first appointment until 7-10 weeks. I know some of the other types of twins are monitored more closely though. If you don’t feel comfortable, you could change doctors. Best to do it now so that you can have continuous care from the one doctor.

i would go somewhere else. but my visits were regular until 16 weeks then they became more and more frequent w 2 doctors monitoring me. i think my doctor waited until 16 weeks to see if they would both stick. then he sent me to a mfm who saw me every 2 weeks and my ob saw me once a month so like 3x a month which became more frequent when there were changes with the babes

I still only saw the doctor every 4 weeks with my twins until I turned 18 weeks so sounds like to me you’re fine.
