boring sex

so I'm just curious what others do to make their sex not so boring. my bf told me he is bored of sex and that's why he don't like to have sex much but I'm bored with it too. Now I want to try different things but he won't yet he says we need to be doing other things because he's bored of our sex. can people give me some ideas to try...he always says he is old fashioned but won't try anything I bring up.
