Is it wrong to tell your in-laws that you don't want them to take your 1 year old to their neighborhood pool when they babysit?

I am not comfortable with my 1 year old going to the pool without me or my husband there as well. They can turn around for a second and my baby could drown or something. I would never forgive them or myself if something really bad happened in the pool without a parent there!

You’re the mom. If you’re not comfortable with something, say it. Hurt feelings are a million times better than a hurt baby, IMO.

As a former lifeguard I probably won’t let anyone take my little guy to the pool without me until I’m confident in his swimming. Just try to find a way to say it without sounding like you don’t trust them ..because that might be a little awkward 😳

If you’re not comfortable then stand your ground. Pools are dangerous. I wouldn’t be comfortable with it either.

My in-laws are a lot older than my parents so I definitely wouldn’t feel comfortable with them supervising my toddler in a pool. Absolutely not.

You're the parent. But I think it's sad that you don't trust your family to care for your child. Every single person in our family is CPR and first aid certified and they all know our stances on things like the pool and other potentially dangerous activities. There's not a single person in our family that I can't trust with our daughter's life.
