My baby girl decided to arrive 3 weeks early right at 37 weeks and Im so in love! On Sunday 6/10 at 5:38 AM I had my first contraction. I thought it was just a cramp as ive had a few the past month but not often. 10 minutes later, I had my second one and they stayed right near 10 min apart for another hour. All of a sudden i get a contraction 5 min apart and then another at 5 min lasting about 45 seconds each. For another hour I contracted at 5 minutes apart when them getting more excruciatingly painful! I decided that I was going to try and take a hot shower to ease the pain as I knew from reading other birth stories that it helped. Well...as soon as I get to the bathroom I felt this huge gush run down my leg and on the floor so I assumed it was my water or I had peed myself so I look down and it was all just blood and I was covered in it. I freaked out and grabbed my husband and we left for L&D; which was 10 min away from home. We get there and they checked me in and I was already at 9 cm!! Because I dilated so quickly they said it caused the bleeding but I would be delivering my baby girl in about an hour (this was out 8:55 AM now). So I get to my room and they started me on an IV and immediately I got an epidural. After that, everything started to slow down. By 10 AM my water had not broken yet so they broke it for me. 11:25 AM comes and finally I was fully dilated and it was time to push! 40 minutes of pushing and she was here! But not screaming or crying, instead, my husband said she was born wide eyed and staring at everyone in awe. It took her 3 minutes to start crying but she is perfect! They ended up having to cut down there a little because she had a little cone head and it was making her get stuck. So I have what is like a 2nd deg tear but worth it! Little Iris Dawn born 6/10 @ 12:11 PM 5lb 3 oz and 18.5 in long.
