when is the time?

Hello there! So hubby and our first time parental. We had our gender reveal this last Saturday and we are going to be welcoming our little girl this December, my question to you is when did you start buying the big items? Like the crib, stroller, changing table, ect. I feel silly for asking, but do you buy these items or is that something you put on the registry for the baby shower?

I had my diaper bag and car seat before I was out of the first trimester 🤷🏼‍♀️ we also told everyone when we were 8-9 weeks along? Then we bought a crib and dresser around 16 weeks and the. Everything else at 29 weeks. That being said we are currently 38 weeks 3days and our nursery is no where near ready 😂😂 but that’s the goal for this weekend to get it finished. Moral of all this is do it when YOU want to, not when someone else’s says it’s a good time. If you wanna tell people early, tell them. If you want to wait till your 36 weeks to buy everything that’s fine too! Don’t let someone else’s tragedy’s dictate your happiness and plans. Do what YOU want

I started buying things as I saw them come up as good deals on rummage sale posts starting at like 10 weeks. We did put all of our big stuff on our registries because if family didn’t end up getting them for us, we could use the completion discounts to do so. We ended up having multiple family members go in on big ticket items together and they got us so many essentials (car seats, stroller, extra bases, cribs, dresser, jumper, high chairs, etc.).

I am almost 20 weeks and have some stuff. We went ahead and bought the crib and dresser because it was on sale. Buy whenever you want. Some wait till the very end but for me I would have too much anxiety until then.

I’m having my first baby this December as well. My mother-in-law suggested we buy the nursery furniture we wanted before the baby shower because our relatives have a tendency to think they know better than everyone and will buy things they think are better instead of what we want. So we’re going to furnish our nursery and buy our stroller and car seat ourselves, and then anything else can be left for people to purchase for the shower.

I’m a FTM, 20w 5d and I’ve bought a stroller, car seat with an extra base, pack n play and swing. All at Toys R Us be sure they were on super sale! The furniture for the babies room I’ll probably buy after the room is painted, but I have it all picked out. You also want to see what people buy for your shower and then fill what you need.
