Was I Right to Call? (Alleged Domestic Violence & Military Cops)
My husband and I live on base. The house we live in is one of those conjoined townhouses. So a week or so before my husband left for his deployment, he said he heard screaming and someone saying “let go of my hair”. A couple of days ago, my dog walker said he saw police go up to the door, talk for a bit, then leave. So tonight, I heard a female screaming (and not playful screaming either). I texted my friend (we’re both military brats with military men) and asked what should I do, and she said call 911. Next thing I know, 6 squad cars are outside, and apparently my neighbors left. Few minutes go by, an officer knocks and asks for my statement. As I’m writing, my neighbors pull up (where they went between the time I called and then, idk. It was less than 20 mins). So now I feel like an asshole for calling, but I rather be safe than sorry. Idk what happened, or if anything happened. I would’ve went over but I didn’t want to seem like a nosy neighbor (which I’m not, I don’t even know their names which is lowkey horrible).
But for anyone who is on base in a bad situation, military police is literally waiting for shit to pop off. I asked “Is it usual for 6 police cars to come”. And the officer said “It depends on the situation and sometimes we’re just bored”. So spouses, you basically have a whole gang behind you. Don’t feel like you don’t have help when you do.
