lose weight required before iui?

hi ladies,
so I'm a plus size lady I'm 5'4" and 227lbs. I gained weight due to depression and the medication. thankfully the meds worked and I'm doing great. however, I'm looking to do IUI and the doctors required me to lose 20lbs first. is that a normal request? I want to add that all my tests came back great I'm not diebetic or have any other conditions.

I was 233lbs and I’m 5’4 when I first started. I took the past 2 months off and have gotten down to 202lbs just by changing to the Keto diet the past 3-4months. With 1 cheat day every now and again lol

Was this advice given by a fertility specialist? My blood came back great. And my doctor said there is no reason I need to lose weight. I’m 235lbs and 5’3”. I’m having my first IUI treatment this week.

my doctor had me start on a keto diet more for the fact that I'm insulin resistant but its helping with weight loss. I just started a week ago and am already down 10 pounds!

I’ve never heard it to be required for IUI, although having a lower BMI does help. But I’ve never heard an RE *require* that you lose the weight just for the procedure.
