Would you be bothered?

So my mom's friend had her baby today!!!!!!! She was due in July but her water broke today and she was in labor for hours, according to my mom. Her friend said she'd have her fiancé text my mom when it got closer for the baby to be born. She never did tell him, nor did he text my mom. But here's the thing. This friend of my mom, she's been through a lot in the past few years. About a couple years ago, she found out her then-husband was cheating on her with God only knows how many women. They divorced. A few months after the divorce, she starts dating a really amazing guy, a guy she went to school with. He asked her to marry him in December 2016. They were going to get married the following year, but money issues got in the way and they postponed. They are still engaged and happy as heck. There's some other stuff that has happened but I don't feel comfortable posting it. This is this woman's 3rd child. Her youngest is 7-8. So it's been a while since she's had a child. I highly doubt that in the mere moments before her child was born, that she would remember to have her fiancé text my mom. I'm a little upset too (this friend is like family to us) but I understand. It's been a big day for them. My mom, however, is in tears. My question is, would you be bothered, and why?

I wouldn't be bothered. When I was in labor I labored for two hours at home, an hour high way ride(refused anyone but my ob), and two hours at the hospital before we had told family I was at the hospital. And at the time of arrival the only people at the hospital were my mother and grandmother. My s.o mother had left.

When I was in labor with my son the very LAST thing I had on my mind was texting people to announce that I was in labor. I left that duty up to my mom and my husband (who were both my birthing coaches). I was not about to take one of my breaks between contractions to text people. I was in my own bubble of pain and focusing on breathing. I couldn't think straight about anything else.
This woman just had a baby and just went through labor. Her only "job" was to focus on herself and her baby, and getting herself through it all. Your mom may feel hurt, but honestly she should try to let it go.
The last thing on my mind was telling people that I was in labor. I didn't know how long my labor was going to be, I didn't know what the outcome was going to be, and I didn't want to be bombarded with texts back from people or with people showing up at the hospital or my house because their impatient butts were told I was in labor too early and it's all they could think about.

ANYthing could've happened... emergency C-section, quick labor and birth, long labor and birth, she could've gotten in a fight with amazing fiance for breathing too loud... any thing... I would just say that "I hope everything is alright" to your mom to get her on the thought track that it's a busy thing they're doing, giving birth, and that if she doesn't know the situation she shouldn't be mad, and to just hope everything goes smoothly and healthy baby happens

I would not be bothered at all. Even if my friend said she would notify me. I would try to be understanding instead and realize that no one has time to be texting especially if it was just her and her SO. I would feel a shitty friend for being offended and putting my emotions over hers when this is clearly not about me.

While I think full on crying is over reacting, I’d be upset. It seems to be an unpopular opinion here but if she told you she was going to have her fiancé text your mom. It takes 2 seconds, just do it. Don’t tell someone your going to do something and then don’t do it. She should have just said that she would try to have her fiancé text your mom. Then if she didn’t do it it would be fine, but don’t say your going to do it.
