Soo much easier when the older ones can understand what a baby is and that babies need special attention, I say around five and up. They are even a big help with the baby!

Whatever works best for you. We want our kids fairly close, and knew it would take some time to get pregnant so we started TTC right before he turned a year. Still trying.
