Custody ???

Question

I had a baby January of 2014 his dad has never been in his life about 10 months ago I met the man of my dreams he loves my son and I so much my son even calls him dada 
My sons real father has nothing to do with him only seen him 3-4 times since he was born he doesn't want my now fiancé being in my sons life and he is now trying to get full custody of my son I'm only 20 and I'm so scared has any other mothers went through this

In my state Oklahoma,it's a mother state and sweetie I'm sure you're a great mommy. His chances are slim of full custody. I can see you going for maybe visitations for him,but my daughter's bio dad hasn't seen her once and she's 4! My husband took her in as his own while I was 3months pregnant. Also, y'all have to be proven unfit for u to not have full custody. Don't worry bout it bc some guys like that like having control and I promise you a real man doesn't leave a child behind anyways. Just let him try. Unless he has some serious proof... Solid proof. You or yr fiance is unfit or a danger..ehh who cares. Been dealing with family court stuff for 13 years now. I am a stepmother to my husbands kids. When I met him 13 years ago. He had custody of his 2 kids ( 3months and 20 months).their mother is a DEAD BEAT. Just shows up every 18- 24 months when she decides to clean up , stirs the pot, causes chaos, drags us to court with the same threat of taking the kids cause they want nothing to do with her ( le gasp!) and she feels NOW she can be a great mother. Blah blah blah. We just nod and smile. Show up with our folder of evidence. She has usually disappeared by the time we are scheduled in court. Luckily the kids are 15&14 now and get it is not our fault. One word of advice. DO NOT go into court with the stance you don't want him to have visits. Family court greatly frowns upon that. You prove you have made yr child available and he has chosen to be absent. Also , I may get some flack on this. But its a little too soon to be entertaining a fiance adopting your child. It takes alot to  terminate parental rights and I could go on and on about the horror my kids bio mom has done to them.also as far as the future with your child. They HAVE to make their own decisions about their absent parent. Filling their heads with your opinion ( whether its based on truth or not) is not ok. It will back fire on you. It is hard, but you have to bite your lip.

Been there done that. I have a son the dad's seen him maybe 10 times, he took me to court for full custody (bc he had a new gf he wanted to impress) anywho I got full custody and he got visitation, it will almost 100% always be that way. The "worst" that could happen is you get shared parenting, which is just that you both have to agree on everything (schools, doctors, exct) anyways, very rare for the father to have full custody unless he can prove 1. Your abusive to the child 2. Your addicted to hard core drugs 3you are not physically able to support your child. And when I mean prove that he legit has to have photographs, drug tests, police reports ext.  it does vary a tad from state to state but I've been going thru this for 4 years and nothing's changed . No worries for you girl, it will all work out, but you do have to realize he will get visitation (unless you have proof he terrible) which is also hard. My sons dad gets supervised visits untill he builds a relationship with my son then gets him every other weekend (if he follows thru with the supervised visits, if not the supervised visits start All over again :) hope this helps'

He'll probably only get visitation. I've gone through a similar case like this. If he hasn't seen his son in awhile the court won't deem it fit for the child to dramatically move in with him. They'll only allow him to keep him for a de hours certain days. Then after some time he'll be able to ask for custody given that the child is more used to his father being around.

Unless you have abused or neglected your child and that can be proven, there's no way he'll get full custody. Be prepared to come out swinging and don't stop fighting for your child.

He can't get full custody unless you put your child's life in danger ... So don't worry about that anymore ... He can always get more custody at anytime meaning visitation but you are still main caregiver ...

Judges see this every day. Slim to nil chance he will get it. He will probably get access tho, which I would be asking for supervised at best.

If you can document or have any proof of the things he's done and that he hasn't been there to help or support you, he cannot get full custody. If his sole reason to get full custody is because he's jealous, he's just wasting his money in court. Be smart, be cautious, document everything he does and says, and you'll be fine. He may end up with visitation rights, but he will not get full custody.
