Does your baby clap or wave yet?

I saw an article saying most babies clap between 6-8 months. My nine month old is getting close but not there yet. And nowhere near waving bye bye. He says mama sometimes when I leave the room and usually looks up when I say his name but I’m not sure he really understands names. I’m not super worried about any of this because he rolled and crawled and pulled up way early and is super curious and active. I’m just interested in what your LOs are doing and when to expect that first cute little hand clap!!

No clapping here but waving all the time :) I have heard that babies tend to develop either physically with crawling and walking as a priority or develop cognitively with communication and understanding as a priority! Sounds like your little is focused on being on the move first and the rest will come! My little lady doesn’t crawl or have any interest in doing so but talks all the time with mama and dada, knows several baby signs, and waves! They all grow in their own time :)

My daughter started clapping around 6 months and waving around 8. She’s 9 months now. She’s is slacking with gross motor skills tho. She just started scooting around at 8.5 months and had no interest in pulling to stand to standing without support. I think every baby develops certain tasks at their own rate. (As long as they’re generally reaching milestones, i think it’s ok)

Mine leathered to wave with a Spanish song my family was doing. And she just learned to clap a couple weeks ago at a music class I took her to.
