Any thing man-made or nature made that has mind or body altering properties is a drug. Pharmaceutical drugs, street drugs, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, all are technically drugs. The word “drug” doesn’t automatically mean bad even though some people correlate the two

Medicines are drugs.  Not all drugs are medicine. There are a lot of drugs that people consume on a daily basis that isn’t medicine (caffeine, alcohol, etc).

Well really what constitutes a drug and a medicine for me are simple. A drug is more along the lines of illegal substances or medicine being used wrong. Medicine, is legal substances prescribed by a doctor. However, there’s a grey area for me with the two because of the addictive side affects medicine can have. Personally, I call something a drug if the person I’m speaking of is addicted to it for example: “sally is taking oxi she bought off of the corner at 28th street after her surgery” that’s a drug. She got it illegally even though I have a bottle of oxi in my medicine cabinet. However using the same sentence but switching one element i would consider it medicine “sally is taking oxi she bought from cvs after her surgery” one she obtained legally the other she didn’t. It’s basically a “social concept” now
