No pacifier - why?

I see a lot of people choosing to not use a pacifier. If you didn’t use one/plan not to use one, can you tell me why not?

I have always been against pacifiers for 2 reasons.. 1 - i had mine until 4!!! It is crazy to me that i was so attached to it and i didnt want that for my baby. 2 - too often they are used to quiet the baby down. My daughter always cried for a reason. It was amazing and i loved her not having it. i was always able to figure out what was wrong and calm her.

Most parents just dont wanna start it and then have to break them from it.  But studies shown pacifiers reduce sids.

Lots of babies just don't take them. None of my sisters or cousins ever did, and in the 2 years I taught infants, we had maybe three babies who regularly used a paci. I personally think they are unnecessary.

I'm going to try using one this time around. 
I didn't with my daughter, and she turned out to be a thumb sucker at a year old!!! now I have to figure out how to break that habit!

From nieces and nephews they all had a hard time separating from them. So I didn’t want to use one anyway. I did offer her one in times of need but she never really liked them. She would rather chew on her fingers

I was told by a nurse not to use a pacifier for a couple of reasons. 
Babies are all different. And some newborns eat every 3 h some eat every 45min. Before you learn baby hunger clues its best not to use a pacifier. Lots of parents will give baby the soother and baby will still not be happy because she’s actually hungry. 
So maybe if you offer breast first and if baby doesn’t want it give her the soother. Or just wait until you get the know the little one. 
The other reason she gave me was the nipple confusion. 
You will see what works best for you and your little one. Just make sure to feed the baby if she is spitting the pacifier out.

Daughter wouldn't take it, I'd try so much because she was soooo high needs and cried all the time but she wouldn't take :(

We don’t use one because my little one doesn’t want one. He spits it out like it was dipped in poison. And we have tried every type from the cheapest store brand ones to the fancy nature rubber ones and all in between. And different sizes.
