Labor Pain

This is my first pregnancy, and just wondering if there was anyone on here who had a really low pain tolerance, but was still able to give birth without pain meds?

I want to try, but I'm nervous since my pain tolerance is so low, that I'll give up and have to get pain meds during labor. I'll get them if I have to, but I've also heard people say that it's worse if you get the epidural later instead of at the beginning of labor??? Just wanting to know people's experiences.
