At the end of the day it’s your choice but as someone who is in love I can’t imagine leaving the person I care about for two months. That being said I also understand loving someone even when you know you probably shouldn’t. If you do take him back remember this “forgive but never forget”. Don’t go into this relationship trying to forget about his mistake. If you really want to make it work then you’ll both have to address it and move past it together but at your own pace. Honestly if he can’t make up his mind about what he wants, you shouldn’t have to waste your time. 
And if he starts being really mean, storming off, calling you names/threatening, gaslighting, etc. leave immediately. That’s the start of an abusive relationship.
