How do you get your baby to sleep?

I’m a FTM with a a 2.5 month old. I can always get her to sleep, but I’m starting to worry about HOW I get her to sleep...

Please comment with your experience, as well as any suggestions you may have for me. Thank you!

Day: I can get her to sleep by rocking or nursing. She stays asleep when held, so I usually hold her/put her in a carrier. She wakes up immediately if I put her down not long after she’s fallen asleep. She wakes up within 15 minutes if I put her down after she’s been asleep for awhile. If I put her down sleepy, but awake she screams.

Night: I can get her to sleep by nursing. Sometimes she wakes up when I put her in the crib and stirs for a bit, but goes back to sleep. She wakes up 2-3 times per night to eat (usually her first stretch of sleep is 5-7 hours, 2nd stretch is 1-3 hours, and 3rd is only 1 hour or so).

my 10 week old boy has no routine sadly yet as like your LO, he will only nap on me if at home, hates sling car pram etc. He'll cry a bit but the only way I've managed to get him to nap is to shush, tap his bottom & walk around with him. No chance of even trying to put him down sleepy, even when he's calm he'll lay there untill he starts crying & won't go to sleep!
