If you want something for next to your bed get the Chicco bassinet. Easy to move and take out of town with you. I had one and the crib in the other room. Never bought a pack n play and never missed it

My son slept in the bassinet portion of the pack n play in our room until he was about 7 months. Then he went into his crib in his own room. His crib can convert to a full bed but we don't have the hardware for it so we just went out and got him a twin bed that he can use for several years. I considered using just the crib this time around but the pack n play has a change table attached to it and it's so convenient for midnight diaper changes. Plus now we can take our playpen with us when we visit people and want him to have a nap.

Comes down to your baby. My son wouldnt sleep in bassinet or pack and play. I had to sleep upright in a recliner with him for weeks. Once we got moved in and settled we put his crib together & he slept in it 1st try. He's only ever wanted to sleep either with us or on a real mattress. Hoping my 2nd wont be so picky 🤞

We have both... my daughter hated her pack in play and slept in her own room in her crib from about a week old. We didn’t convert my daughter crib because we just went from crib to full size bed to save money in the long run. We plan to do the same with this baby.

We plan to sell our crib once baby grows out of it and get a toddler bed. Our crib converts but I’d rather sell it and get something back for it. We bought it used and it still looks brand new.

Just a heads up, most convertible cribs don't come with the hardware to convert to a full bed.  So we used the crib and toddler bed, but we had a guest bed full so we just gave her that and will use the crib again.  also...kids chew, so the crib has teeth marks that I wouldn't want to use for an older child's bed...so I'm guessing when this one out grows the toddler bed we will probably just buy a new bed.  So for us...the idea of a bed that they could have forever isnt materalizing out the way I thought.

Honestly, this depends on your needs.  My house is older, so the rooms are on the small side.  A crib wouldn’t fit in our room, so we went with a pack n play.  My son is almost 16 months and still in there hahahaha.  We have decided to just transition him to a toddler bed by 18 months (he can climb out of the pack n play, so a crib itself is a no, and baby #2 arrives when he is 20 months).  We will probably do the same with #2
