at what age did you start leaving your child/children home alone?

some states have legal age requirements before you can leave a child home alone. In states where there isn't one, I feel it comes down to the maturity and responsibility of the child and how long they're staying home. are we talking about leaving them home while we go to the grocery store or for something that takes multiple hours?

I think this just depends on the child. Around 9/10 my mom left me alone but I was an only child and it was maybe an hour or so. I think most kids around 12 are OK to be home alone for a few hours like after school etc but this also depends on if they have younger siblings or not.

Depends on maturity level. I have a 14 year old that I would leave by herself for an hour or 2, but not with her younger sister who’s 10. The combo of the two worries me lol. And I wouldn’t leave the 10 year old by herself because she worries too much and she would be stressed. But my 14 year old wasn’t like that at 10. So it depends on the kid.

I can say I started babysitting 2 young kids at 10. My coworker has 2 14 year olds and was saying she’s not sure what she’s gonna do because they can’t stay home alone and I was shocked...
