Positive OPK & trigger same day???

Question

Had ultrasound this morning with 4 follicles and one 21mm the others 14-16mm. Took my OPK at 7 pm couldn’t do it earlier bc of work and got my peak, had one day of flashing smiley yesterday. Doc called and said to do my trigger tonight between 8-10 pm. Wondering if it’s possible I might have O naturally before doing trigger? Is this going to work out? Anyone have this happen?

Answer

Not if you triggered same day as your positive. You don’t ovulate until 24 hours or more even after a natural surge. So doing the trigger technically should just increase the strength of that already starting natural surge and pop all mature follies out. You should ovulate within 24-48 hours.
