When another child hurts your child

I happened to watch  another child, older than mine, pushing down my baby and gets very mad when my lo was around him. This was frustrating as i was not able to step in. There were some staffs of the day care restricting him, but he would not stop. Of course the child was physically bigger and stronger and my lo was not aware why he was mad, this makes me really upset and anxious to send him to daycare. How do you mamas handle this?😑😭

I chose a daycare that had a great policy for when kids get physical, and an awesome reputation all around. Toddlers are learning to process their emotions, they hit, bite, push, kick, scream and cry. Right now it’s that other kid, next week it can very easily be your kid. All you can do is choose a daycare you know you can trust to handle it appropriately. You can’t keep kids in a bubble, they need to learn social skills and I feel like that means learning how to navigate through this behavior too. By the time they’re in school they will know how to express themselves without touching other kids while their peers who don’t have as much experience socializing may not.

It's hard, but what PP said they are learning to handle emotions and it comes out as aggressive at times. Definitely let them know your concerns. Depending on how aggressive it is, the other kids parents may need to know whats going on so they can help them at home with appropriate behavior.

I had this happen on a play date. My first instinct was to scoop up my child but in the end I let the other kids mom deal with their kid’s hitting and I just moved my son away a bit.
