the starter truths of first time pregnancy
hey ladies. first off, I love this app. it does a great job bringing ladies together and cultivating an environment of womanly support.
second, I want to talk to you about being a first time preggo.
I've only just begun the journey and so have many more weeks, symptoms, reports and milestones to work through but for all you youngin's and first time mommies going through the poop I'm going through, I write this.
I'm a simple being. I try to eat my fruits and veggies on the daily. I try to hit the gym as often as I can. I try to sleep well, think well, and do well. many times I don't feel like I hit these enough. I sometimes have too many cookies, or taco bell, or choose to nap instead of lift weights, or stay up late with my husband instead of sleep a full 8 hours... but the key word is "try". I try!
I try to avoid fake ingredients, food dye, and other harmful chemicals. I try to be gluten free (except for the occasional cheat snack or beer!). so I try to be good and healthy!

this pregnancy, again, my first, has altered my being already and I'm only 6 weeks in!
in the first week or so of discovering my pregnancy, I was EXTREMELY tired. I slept for about 18-20 hours for nearly a week straight! my husband was concerned (lol!) but supportive- he's been a great spouse! my second and third week I had minor cramping and fatigue but was able to get to the gym and pool to stay somewhat active. tomatoes and garlicmade me want to hurl! 😣
for a while those were my only symptoms. I couldn't stand or walk for very long periods because I'd start to get light headed, winded, and dizzy so I kept to VERY low impact movements and tasks. I slept as often as I needed, ate nearly what I wanted (minus tomatoes and garlic), and overall had it easy!
but what followed has been a nightmare comparatively!
this week I've had BAD gas- and I mean BAAD. I'm lactose intolerant and its about the same potency as that! I mean,I could kill a horse dead in it's tracks! 🐴💀
I've also experienced the WORST morning sickness! anything from grapefruit to toasted tortillas, black beans to lettuce has me doubling over searching for a trash can. I've been living off of chicken nuggets and spaghetti oh's (which I haven't eaten in nearly TWO DECADES!). if I try to eat anything healthy (minus fruit- fruit smoothies have been nice but I haven't had them often enough) I will vomitor have a nasty case of heartburn and acid reflux! this baby doesn't want the healthy! it is FORCING me to eat the processed and high caloric meals- I literally ate taco bell for dinner tonight (yum yum in my tum tum!!).
now I'm not complaining! really, I'm not! I'm enjoying these days reminiscent of high school where I could eat anything and not put on a pound. however it is wreaking havoc on my mentality. Fortunately my husband (seriously an A+ guy) has talked me back up by telling me it's so abnormal that it HAS to be the baby.
Anyway! the point of my story is this. give the baby what it needs and what is asking for. my heartburn and acid reflux, and even the morning sickness subsides when I eat the overly processed foods (strangely enough). I feel better when I eat that shit than if I opt for the gluten free, dairy free, fun free, totally boring health foods-which is ass backwards if you ask me!
I did however go to the store and purchase gingin hard candies and some ginger drinka to help ease the upset stomache, I also got antacid chewable tablets, some vegan donuts, gummy bears, and two soft tacos and two bean burritos tonight... to help with the heartburn, acid reflux and my hungry belly child growing in my loins.
I tried doing this first pregnancy natural and holistic and healthy and blah blah blah, but baby puts up a fight bigger than momma can handle! so cheers moms 🍻 eat what you NEED, buy meds to seduce that aching pain into silence, and sleep sleep sleep! also, if you've got a spouse, don't stop praising them for their servantry. my hubs seriously will win the award this year for best spouse for all of his late night errand running, support and encouragement during these wee stages of motherhood, and so much more.
buy the food, take the meds, FUCK the rest!

cheers!
