quad test?

i was told at my bext visit (ill be 16 weeks) they want to do a quad screening. has anyone done it before. i dont remember being offered this last time. what does it tell you?

Answer

It checks for possible syndromes or birth defects. Just a simple blood test. You don't have to take it if you don't want to though. I didn't because it didn't really matter to me, I would carry the baby to term even if it had something like downs, and sometimes they can be inaccurate so I didn't want to unnecessarily stress myself out. But if you would consider an abortion with a syndrome, or just want to know ahead of time then it's a good thing to take. It's pretty standard.
