Are you going to let your baby/toddler use a tablet or phone for entertainment?

Just wondering how many moms out there who are okay with letting their young child use a tablet or phone to distract them. I personal am against it due to the numerous studies from neuroscientist and psychologist. Just curious what others how to say.

My daughter is only 3 months old, but the answer is no. I'll be 28 this year and I have a sister who will be 4 a few days after my birthday. It's a long story. Anyways. My dad got her so hooked on the phone that she thinks its hers and if you dont give it to her, she throws the biggest freaking tantrum I've ever seen in my life. She sits for hours watching random toy videos on YouTube. She won't play or interact like she used to because all she wants is YouTube. So nope. We can watch educational videos together, but only together, and she won't have her own device, and it'll be for a set amount of time.

When you have a two year old who won’t stop screaming or throwing food or doing whatever else they aren’t allowed to do especially in a place you need them to be quiet in, yeah. No shame 🤷‍♀️

I have two kids. They are allowed to watch tv some but they don’t have hand held electronics. They are both under 3 but I don’t have any plans on buying them a tablet or anything any time soon. They will end up learning how to use them because obviously now a days you need to but I can’t stand when I see kids sitting in a circle texting each other instead of playing and running around.

after watching all of my friends use tablets as babysitters, I refuse to do it. these kids reactions to not being able to use a screen to entertain themselves is crazy. they scream and cry and throw fits until their parents give in and give it them....ugh

We don’t let our kids. Well, his kids-my stepkids. They’re 4 and 6 and ever since he and I have been together we have both been very against it. Not judging anyone who does, but we just try to encourage them to create things or play outside like we did when we were kids. At their mother’s house, they play on her phone all the time, but not over here. 🤷🏼‍♀️

No, at least not before two. My son is 18 months old. I only let him watch videos on my phone one time and it was because he had to come with me to a prenatal appointment. He is very scared of strangers and was terrified, so I let him watch some sing-a-longs while I got my US. Other than that one time, I doubt I will before two and probably not even that young.

I think balance is the key to everything. My son is 2 and has his own iPad (mostly so it isn’t overloaded with photos and emails and junk) but we travel a TON. We mostly use it on airplanes and in the car. However, some days when we are home he will watch YouTube. My son is extremely outgoing and social and LOVES to play outside so he’d rather do that than watch a tv or an iPad. He loves to build and ride his bike as well. (He has a balance bike he cruises around on really well in our house and outside when it’s nice out) Every parent is different and so is every kid. Will my son be glued to his ipad? Of course not. But do I feel bad about letting him watch Blippi or Elmo? No way! My son turned 2 last week and already knows all his colors and knows quite a few letters of the alphabet. He is learning new words every day and he loves to be active. If I were to notice he were getting withdrawn or only wanting his iPad then I would see it as an issue and act accordingly. But if I need a few minutes to shower or make lunch or dinner and my son wants to watch the iPad I sure let him. I will also say there are days in a row he doesn’t touch the iPad. And we don’t let him have our phones - he throws them 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

I hope I’m strong enough to resort from doing this!  At least until they’re a little older. But I have so many friends who have succumb to it, so it can’t be that easy to avoid!
