Should skin to skin only be with the parents?

I found out today my bil (my baby’s godfather) did skin to skin with my 2 week old and it just bothered me so much. To me skin to skin should be a bonding thing only for the parents to do with the baby.

if it bothers you speak up. it's not something that is abnormal in my opinion as it is something done to comfort an upset baby but if it makes you uncomfortable then they should respect that not do it.

Should skin to skin only be made with the parents?..  Mam, thats an opinionated question. If YOU as a mother don't like what someone is doing, speak up. Some other women may not care due to the benefits outweighing the cons.

your opinion is the one that matters here. I personally wouldn't mind but I'm also the kind of mom that kisses my babies on the mouth and would donate or receive clean donated breast milk. Some mothers see this kind of a thing from others as a threat to their bond with their child but I see it as a community of support and love for my baby. I would hope that a godparent would be willing and comfortable with treating my child the way that I would because that would mean that I made the right decision in choosing a person for that role. I am not at all judging your discomfort so please don't take it that way! You get to decide!!

My daughter is only soothed by skin to skin no matter who is around if my daughter needs to be calmed then I would let them. Also my boyfriend is always shirtless so whoever’s baby he was holding would technically constitute as skin to skin although it wasn’t intended

It’s a little odd. He might be a little too excited about him. Skin to skin isn’t really effective when it from anyone that’s not the mom. It’s essentially cuddling. Like the other ladies said, if I bugs you, speak up. It can be a hard topic to bring up, so drop something like “oh, I read online that apparently skin to skin is only effective between baby and mom.” or “there was a heated discussion over skin to skin with baby and other people that aren’t the baby’s parents. What do you think about it?”

I mean it’s summer so I’m sure he just happened to have his shirt off when he held baby. It definitely wouldn’t bother me. It’s just someone’s skin touching your baby’s skin

You’re the parent. Personally I don’t think any family members would do that so I don’t have to worry but I did do skin to skin ALOT because I didn’t breastfeed. Every now and then I’ll do skin to skin still with my toddler when she goes to sleep (tank top and her head is on my chest that’s bare but rest is covered.) her dad unintentionally does it and I don’t care.

I wouldn’t be particularly happy if someone else did skin to skin with the baby. I find it weird myself
