Home Birth or hospital?

I'm currently 9 weeks and my midwife asked me today if I wanted a home birth or maternity ward.  I live rural (25miles from hospital) and I was like what - go.e birth that's a thing?!?! She said she would leave me to think about it and there is plenty of time at next appointment to discuss.  So having never really realised it could be a possibility thinking I was automatically high risk (being over 35 and first time) I have no idea what to think?!?! Help

Is this your first child? Are you otherwise healthy, and is the baby seeming healthy? My best friend has three healthy children and all were born at home, in the kitchen, in a blow up pool! She had gas and air for pain relief each time. She says she would do anything to NOT have a hospital birth. It depends what you want. If you have a home birth, you can’t have certain pain relief, such as an epidural, but you’ll probably be less stressed since you’ll be in the comfort of your own home. Women have been giving birth at home since the start of humanity. I have a chronic health condition so I’m high risk, which means I’ll definitely need a hospital birth. Plus I think I’d want an epidural so that would indicate a hospital birth. Work out what’s more important to you, for example, pain relief, which in turn will help you make the best decision for you.
