Is cheating a dealbreaker for you?

I always hear women calling other women weak for staying with someone who has cheated on them. I kinda think there is strength in staying (if it was a one time thing) and I think there is strength in leaving. I haven’t been cheated on as far as I know. But I stopped judging women who have been and chose to stay, because you never really know what you’d do until it happens to you, especially for the first time.

I always said it would be a deal breaker. Now that I’m going through it, I want to try therapy first. I’m not sure if it’ll work or not though.

I put it depends because i went through it with the man who is now my husband.
We dated from the time we were 16 until we were about to turn 18. I found out when I went out of the country on a mission trip that he had cheated on me with another girl..I immediately broke up with him, said I’d never trust him again, and held my ground pretty firmly. 
A year goes by, he got heavily involved in college ministry after he got saved, totally changed his way of doing things and we started to pursue dating again.
He’s my first love, and although the pain of being cheated on is something I’d never wish on anyone, you really don’t know what you’d do unless you’ve been there..
I ALWAYS said, if you cheat, I’m done. No going back, you get one chance. 
Now here we are, 7 years later and happily married. I don’t question his faithfulness to me, because I knew when we got back together he was a different person. I think that’s the important thing. If you keep going back to someone based off of what they say, but their actions don’t follow through, it’s a bad situation. They will abuse you and your trust over and over. Just my two cents ❤️☺️

It’s definitely a dealbreaker. I think it’s a dealbreaker for everyone in monogamous relationships. No one wants to be cheated on, some just stay for whatever reason

I have left several boyfriends for cheating. I tell anyone I’m with if you put your dick anywhere you wouldn’t want me to see I’m gone. I don’t give second chances.

Well leaving is always the easiest option. So why would that show strength? It totally depends on the situation. Someone who cheats and expects forgiveness is generally not worthy of it. Everyone is capable of cheating and being cheated on, those who won’t acknowledge that are lying to themselves. Perhaps they can’t see it happening the way things currently are, but things change... nothing stays the same forever. Most people are pretty gifted at rationalizing their behavior and will make excuses and justify themselves (it wasn’t cheating because we stopped having sex, they weren’t treating me right, etc.) people also like to sound like they have all the answers. It takes a much stronger person to face fears and put in the work that creates personal growth than to bail on something because their pride was wounded.

I left boyfriends in the past AND my ex husband for cheating but this time I stayed with my boyfriend... not sure why it's different, but we're working on things so hopefully it works out. but if he does it again, I'm gone. 😟

If DH cheated on me, I'd never be able to look at him the same. I'd always question if he were going to do it again, and we would not have the trust between us that we currently do. This lack of trust would doom our relationship. I would come to forgive him for our son, but could not stay with him.

I agree with you, no idea what I would do in the same position and I agree - not necessary to judge a woman who chooses to go to counseling and stay with a man if he cheats once. They have to be aware that it could happen again and hopefully they will leave if it becomes repetitive, but I’m not gonna judge. It’s not my place.
