Horizontal ridges on thumbnail?

Hi there

So for the past few months the nail on my right thumb has grown in with really bad horizontal ridges on it. I read it can be a sign of trauma to the nail but it’s definitely not that as it hasnt been damaged at all and even now it is growing in ridged right at the root. I also noticed the thumb on my left n]has a tiny ridge but nothing like the right! Anybody experience this? I read it can be a vitamin deficiency but not sure if that’s it - I am going to start taking daily vitamins to see if it helps but wanted to know if anyone has experience with this? Thanks
