When you got home from the hospital, how long did you wait to allow visitors to the house?

If you aren’t vaccinated you don’t come see the babe for the first two months. So that cut out a lot of people. Regardless how they feel, it’s not their child, its ours.

I was in labour for three days and decided we would wait three days before having our parents meet the baby. We kept visits short in the first month and didn’t start going out until the 40 days it takes for their immune system to start working. It’s your family, take the time you need. If you are breast feeding those first days of learning and waiting for your milk to come in are really stressful. I would take that time to focus on bonding and figuring things out if you need to without worrying about entertaining.

I've wondered the same.  I'm due with our first in September and just the thought of having family come over with a newborn stresses me out.  I think I'm just gona have to put my foot down and say no visitors until we are in a good routine.

Personally the idea of anyone visiting in the first 4-6 weeks stresses me out. I just gave birth, stay away 😂 I’m just not a people person and I need alone time to recover and get my rhythm going again.

Family was welcome the day after we got home , as well as my best friend, anyone else had to wait a couple weeks

Family came by right away. Friends maybe a month depending on how close they were.

We live 3,000 miles from family so we didn't have anyone the moment we got home. But we had friends visit in the hospital. Then my dad, stepmom, and three sisters all flew out a week after I gave birth and my MIL flew out when I was 4 weeks postpartum. We never found it necessary to set rules for visitors. They were more than welcome to come whenever they wanted to.

Basically right away. We had a party 5 days after she was born to give people a chance to come over and see her kind of all at once. So we didn’t have people dropping by all the time
