When does your doctor start cervical checks?

Mine started today at 36 weeks.

Mine doesn’t do them until you start having contractions. I think I’m ok with that, I’ve heard they hurt!

I birth with midwives and unless you act them to check or there is a medical need they dont do them. I really dont see the point in checking.

What exactly do they do when they check? Does it feel like the Pap smear thing or what? Or just with a gloved hand feel for things in unknown regions? Seriously asking.

mine doesn't unless you request. she says there is no reason you can be 0-10 in 1hour or stay at 4+ for weeks. my friend was 5cm for 4 weeks woth no complications.

My office doesn’t do them at all. This is my third and they’ve never checked for dilation.

I have no idea but had mine checked at 34 wks exactly due to frequent braxton hicks that were a bit uncomfortable and close to ignore. But, .........was only a "fingertip" dilated 😑

I had to pretty much beg for a cervical check at my 40 week appointment with my son. My hospital doesn’t do them unless needed. She did one since I begged and I was rock hard and dilated none. Had my son the next day! 😄
