Do white people usually have family reunions?

I'm black, and each side of my family (mother's and father's) has reunions. I've also seen Indian and Latino people having them too. I wasn't sure if it was like a minority thing. Or do white people also have them?

People are making this seem like it’s a ridiculous question but I’ve literally never seen a white family reunion (in real life or in media), and my husband (he’s white af)’s family doesn’t have them lol So I really wasn’t sure either!

Yes. I have a annual family reunion every year. It’s a combined vacation. This year we are all going to Disney in Orlando.

I think in general, white people tend to not be as close with their extended families. I’m white and my family has reunions for one side of the family maybe once every 2 or 3 years. But I have friends who are POC who have huge extended families, and it’s a big part of their life and how their immediate family functions. So idk if reunions in particular are more of a minority thing, but I think extended families tend to play more of a role for POC families. It’s probably also related to people who immigrated to the US wanting to still be connected with their culture and family back home. That’s just what I speculate though. It would be interesting to look at the topic through an anthropology lens.

Most families meet up (at least) yearly. There’s not really a long enough period apart to count as a “reunion”

I really wish my family would have reunions!! I don’t know ANYBODY on my dad’s side — only by name. I don’t know any other white people that have had family reunions either lol.

I am white and haven’t had a family reunion in over 20 years.

My family definitely did them in my dads generation and older. Our younger generation has let them die out I think. 
But with my adoptive family, we see each other pretty much every weekend and every single family event throughout the year (birthdays and stuff), so a family reunion seems redundant.

That’s interesting because I never thought about it being a race thing. My dad’s side of the family had them when we were younger (we are white), but we also had a huge, scattered family. So it made sense we’d need to have a reunion since not everyone say everyone on xmas etc.

my family doesn't. I don't usually see any where I live. I never thought about that though lol. my extended family does all get together around Christmas time though!
