Excessive ear drainage during ear infection after tubes?

Just wondering if this was common. My niece had tubes places 3 months ago and has had two ear infections since. This time soooo much fluid drained that the shoulder of her white shirt was saturated with yellow drainage and her hair was matted to the side of her head! There was no odor or anything. The pediatrician said it was a lot of drainage, but nothing else...just went on to prescribe more antibiotics. Has anyone else ever seen drainage like this!?
