Majors that have clerical/office jobs??
So here is my story...
When I graduated high school I first wanted to be a nurse. My college offered CNA courses, so I decided to do that to see if nursing is even something I wanted to do.... well luckily I did that. I became a CNA and absolutely hated everything about it. It just wasn’t for me. Well I did work at a doctors office for a couple of months, where I was a “medical assistant”, but on some days I would also do clerical/reception work. I hatef the job because I still had to take vital signs, etc.. but I LOVED the clerical/office work part of the job. So fast forward, I am 19 now and on my second semester of college (Still doing my pre-requisites) but I am going for an Associates degree in Office Administrations.. so hopefully I can get a clerical job once I’m through with this.
The problem is... Office Administrators don’t make great. Like $16.00-$17.00/hr. Which in my state the average income is $20.00/hr, so it’s not horrible, I would still be able to pay bills and everything, but I eventually want kids with my fiancé, so it’s not really enough for that.
So I do want to get my bachelors in something where I can do clerical work.. so I found Human Resources, and I would LOVE doing that. But people keep telling me that HR is hard to get a job in. And I do want something where I will not get out of college and not be able to find a job in.. does anyone have any advice on it? Or does anybody know of other good majors where I could still do clerical work? I just really want my career to be something where I work at an office, interact with people, etc.. but makes fairly decent money. (Not rich or anything, but enough to live comfortably off of, and be able to support myself and future kids. I don’t want to rely on my fiancé’s income Incase something ever happens to him. Lol)
Thanks!!
