Pepper Sprayed by boyfriends mom

BF mom is a NARCISSIST!! They got into an argument and while they were arguing I got pepper sprayed. I didn’t say two words to this crazy lady. Should I press charges? That would be considered assault right? He quit talking to her but I can’t get past what she did to me. I have never direspected this woman a day in my life. I think she has some weird feeling like he is her man. She refuses to allow him to be in a relationship. This isn’t the first time she has threatened a girlfriend of his. I’m just now finding this out. She didn’t run me off so she had to up it a notch. We have been dating on and off for 17 years and now finally decided to give things a go and make it work.
