What are you ladies planning?

Wanting to go all natural but not sure I’ll be able to handle the pain. Due 7/22 and not dilated at all yet 😩

My plan is to go without an epidural, but at the same time, there are no martyrs in childbirth; if it’s more than I can handle I’ll go for it.   
Every woman’s body and pain tolerance is different, just as every pregnancy and delivery is different.  Just trust your body’s signals and your own instincts.

I'm planning to go all natural!! but, I'm not closing the door completely as some labors, especially a FTM like me, can go on for days and at that point, it might be needed to relax and recharge before it comes time to push! I hope we can do it!! i was telling myself during braxton hicks that if i tensed up, it'll hurt more and to just breathe it out. ride the waves, mama 💙

Your body is made to do this, but if you can’t handle the pain and you’re only at 3cm go for an epidural... you need to be able to “relax” in order to dilate. So if you’re completely tensed up during contractions and can’t breathe through them your body won’t be able to dilate.

you can always do an epidural but ask for it to be light so you can experience all the feelings just not so intense.

Honestly I planned on having the epidural but because my labor was progressing so quickly I decided to cancel it and start pushing. I’m so glad it worked out that way. The pain was awful but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Our bodies are made for this! If you want to have a natural birth... I say you go for it!

my plan was to go natural,  but once I was having  real contractions that were insanely painful for 3 straight  hours and only  dialated 1/2 cm I felt so defeated and got the epidural. It was the best thing I could have done for myself (and for my husband who was having a hard time seeing me in so much pain with nothing  he could do) lol.

Planned all natural and after a 27 hours of screaming in pain (baby was in a weird position, and while contractions were getting stronger, I wasn’t dilating), I asked for the epidural. It was the right thing for this birth. But I would love to try again next time for natural. I made it 27 hrs without, so I think I could do it next time.
I ended up with a 31 hr labour.
