Child support Opinions PLEASE HELP!

Ok so I just had a baby and I got papers in the mail to take the father (my fiancé) for child support. However I do not want him to pay child support and I never did. But I guess it's by law now that if a baby receives insurance or if you get food stamps they automatically take the father for child support. Me and my child are underneath my mothers case so that's how we receive the insurance & food stamps. But I was wondering is there anyway I can call and get it dropped? Because the father just moved in with me and he takes care of his son, he loves him dearly so there's definitely no need for child support. What should I do? Has anybody else been through this before?
