Nurse or give baby a bottle during takeoff if baby is awake. Have some pumped breast milk (if you breastfeed/pump) and bring along toys to keep baby entertained. My baby girl was three months during her first flight, which was 5.5 hours, she slept most of the departure flight, but was 50/50 for the return flight. When she was really young, we would bring her Snuggle Nest Traveler or Dockatot along and just lay it across both of our laps for her to lay on when she fell asleep. Our daughter is nine months and has flown four times (eight if you count return flights) already so we have definitely learned some tips along the way. Baby wearing really makes maneuvering through the airport easier. I've skipped lines before because I was wearing her. Strollers are also convenient, but we usually check ours in at the gate. When she was younger, one of us would just hold her during the flight, but we've purchased a seat for her during the last two flights and will continue to do so. Take a diaper tote or diaper backpack onboard with you full of essentials such as diapers, wipes, extra clothing, blanket, etc. Good luck! I hope you all have a good flight.
Tips for flying with 6 month old
Mamas, any tips or tricks for flying with a 6 month old? Little man turns 6 months next week then goes on his first flight 2 days later (an almost 4 hour flight 🙈).
