Surprising my bf with a new pair of Hollister jeans 😍👖 ...but...

I told my friend, and she just went on and on about how its not the girls place to buy gifts for a man. Let me say, me and bf keep gift giving to holidays and birthdays but it was such a great deal and I know he’d love them! I’m just a little bummed because my friend told me that I’m “emasculating” him, and that I should be the one taken care of. Mind you, my bf always pays for lunches/dinners, treats me like queen, he’s practically my best friend. She kind of hurt my feelings; I was on top of the world with this gift, and now I’m not 😞 What do you guys think?
