Has anyone had a positive smiley opk and didn’t ovulate?

Answer

It’s not likely that it was a “false positive”, but rather an LH surge that didn’t lead to ovulation. OPKs detect the level of LH in the urine, which surges 1-3 days before ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary) resulting in a positive OPK. It is entirely possible to get positive OPKs without actually ovulating as the LH surge can still occur while the egg isn’t actually released. Women with hormone imbalances, PCOS, cysts, enlarged ovaries, etc. still get the LH surge because their body tells it to, but have difficulty releasing the egg from the ovary.
