Those with a 10 year old with an attitude... how do you handle the constant complaining and attitude?

Question

I cannot deal with this anymore. Husband is ok with being walked all over by our 10 yr old. I am over it. I say things like... Go brush your teeth... And I have to listen to a 15 min attitude tone complain about why he shouldn't. This is with EVERYTHING. I AM RUNNING OUT OF PATIENCE. He is 10, this needs to be solved now. We are not going to have a teenager and adult who is so disrespectful!!! If you have a solution please share!!!

If it was brushing his teeth he didn't want to do, I'd print out photos of decayed teeth and tape them to his door. Doesn't want to take out the trash? Start leaving garbage in his room. Doesn't think he should have to set the table? Cool dinner for yourself and not him. 
And each time he gets upset say, "well you didn't want to contribute, so I did this to help you understand how it feels"
Idk, maybe I'm a vengeful parent. It works on my 7 yo when she's not wanting to help out.

If I were in your shoes I’d be scouring the Internet for studies and articles written by experts to see which one works for you. 
I don’t blame you for putting it on here too though - you sound like you’re at your wits end. 
My point about looking online though is that you might find suggestions that are more likely to work as experts have studied these kinds of things, therefore they’ll have based their opinions on what works for larger sample sizes than people on here who may have tried it with 1-2 kids.

I have the same issue at times with my 10 year old daughter she doesn't walk all over us she just has an attitude problem at times. however it seems to get worse when she's around certain people so we try to limit contact with them if possible but when it's not we have to start all over with getting rid of her attitude.

My 10 year old is going through the same thing. She is a really good kid and I know it’s those pre teen hormones kicking in but I make it a point to let her know I don’t like her tone or complaining and why I don’t like it and that she’s never been that way before. She is very sensitive so she doesn’t like hurting peoples feelings or disappointing us so she will watch herself. But it will happen again and we just keep reminding her that she sounds like a rude brat and she calms down. But every kid is different, that’s just what we do and it works

Hmmm my 9 yr old complains and talks back sometimes.. when it’s really bad we take time away from bedtime or from his limited screen time. Say he complains for 5 mins, he goes to bed 5 mins earlier. Complains longer then keep subtracting the mins. Or take away from screen time (tv/videogames)
