How often do twins have ultrasounds?

I went in at 6wk 2 days and found out I was having twins. I go back at 9 wks was wondering how often you see the doctor with twins, do you have ultrasounds every time? And do you always have a regular ob and an at risk doctor? Thanks!!!

I'm 32 weeks with twins and have been going to the DR every 3 weeks. I get a ultrasound at every appt. :)

Usually If they are di/di twins they are less risky and don't have them as often as identicals. At least, that's my experience. I'm having di/di and I've had 3 ultrasounds so far. The first one was at 5 weeks to confirm no ectopic. Second at 10 weeks, and third at 14+6. I'm now at 18 weeks tomorrow and see my dr today. I'll find out when my next one is.

I only had three actual ultrasounds during my pregnancy. They did the little quick screen ones every appointment though. I was supposed to have a fourth one done, but my water broke two days before lol.

It depends what kind of twins you are having. I think the norm for di/di (fraternal, two placentas) is once a month (unless you had other health issues or issues with the babies). I have mono/di (identical, one placenta) twins and have ultrasounds every 2 weeks since 14 weeks, and have had some extra ones because one of my twins has a heart issue. That's the norm as identicals are always at risk for TTTS and other issues that can come with a shared placenta. After 32 weeks I will have one once a week until delivery. If you have mono/mono twins I'm guessing you are monitored even more as those are the highest risk.

It honestly depends on your situation and doctor. I am extremely high-risk with my twins and have been going every two weeks for an ultrasound since about sixteen weeks.

I had an ultrasound every 2 weeks and met with midwife/heart beats checked every 2 weeks as well... Opposite weeks..

With mine I was there every week in the beginning then sometimes up to three times a week and had ultra sounds every month but each dr is a bit different

I'm having di/di twins. I had one at 7wks, 8 wks, 12wks... Then they said I wouldn't have another one until 20 wks. Then at my last OB appointment the other midwife was upset that I wasn't having them more often. So every 4 weeks for ultrasound and every 2 weeks for OB check up. Then more often as I near my due date.

Since week 8 I've had a OB appointment every 4 weeks, an ultrasound for cervix length every 2 weeks and an ultrasound for babies growth every 4 weeks.
