Why was I late 4 days ???

Hello everyone blessings. I have a question. I am 43 years old trying to get pregnant after 16 years since having my 3rd son. I have a normal set period monthly where I get it on the exact day. Sometimes the day before or a day after  , but this month I was late 4 days. Why could that be ?

Ovulated late. Your period is due date is decided by when you ovulate, if you ovulate late your period will be due late. You can have been regular for months and months and then suddenly have an off cycle.
Ovulation can be affected by sooooo many things - stress, illness, change in diet/sleep pattern, new house/job/school, traveling to name a few.
If you're not tracking ovulation with opk's and bbt charting then you're always guessing when you're going to ovulate and therefore also always guessing when your period is due.
At 43 I know I don't need to tell you that time for ttc is precious (I'm 41)... I think you would find it very useful to track with opk's and bbt charting. There's some great articles on here about both and lots of us around who would be happy to help
