Nightmare napper
Firstly sorry for the long post ha ha
Curious to see how many others have trouble getting their LO's to nap & what you've tried?
DS is 10 weeks & most of the time it's a fight to get him to sleep. I've been trying to use the same method each time to see if that helped "cue" for nap (walking around craddled, patting bottom & shushing sometimes with dummy is the only thing that seemed to work).
I hate the fact that if he can be awake pretty much all day because he will just fight and fight nap because when he has had a nice nap he's so much happier.
Sometimes if I stay at home all day where it's quiet I can get him to nap on me for a 45 minutes, but there's no chance if we ever leave the house. I can't stay home 24/7, I'm a single parent & simply have to get out for even essentials! I feel so guilty for leaving the house when I see him getting tired because I know we will start the whole rigmarole of refusing to nap. I find myself dreading leaving the house :(
DS hates the pram & car so that wouldn't help. I've tried different positions, hot, cold, nappy, hungry, just bored, trying to get him to nap after an hour/hour and a half of being up regardless of yawning, etc, upstairs downstairs..
If he's at home and by some miracle I've managed to get him to sleep, I've come to giving up putting him down also because he just wakes up again & sometimes I just can't bear starting the whole process again that I just hold him. I've seen lots of comments online from well wishes saying enjoy the cuddles. Yes I love holding my son, but at the same time, particularly being on my own, I need to actually eat and wash our clothes too at some point?
P.S. He doesn't sleep through night, generally does blocks of 2-4 hours which I think is great for him considering a few weeks ago he'd be up all night with grunting & wind! He's EBF.
Any suggestions?
