What is your occupation and how did you know it was right for you? 
I am currently nearing the end of my high school years and it is time for me to think about my career path. I am just wondering if anyone would like to share their stories with me in the comments answering the question above. Your responses are greatly appreciated! :) Thank you!

I’m a mental health counselor. I wanted to be a nurse to care for people, but broke my feet in a car accident a few weeks after I finished high school and my doctor said with arthritis in my feet I likely wouldn’t be able to handle clinicals in nursing school. I just took a ton of different classes in college until I decided what I loved (like calculus, biochemistry, history, psychology, and Spanish in my first semester). Anyway, Counseling turned out to be a great fit because I could still care for people, and sit down as I need to. (Also I don’t have to deal with poop and blood which is probably a good thing for me!) If you have the opportunity to shadow or do internships, that’s another way to find out if you enjoy a job. (I learned I enjoy working with elderly populations and victims of abuse.) Feel free to ask questions, but that’s what worked for me!

I really enjoyed math and science and building things so I went into engineering right after high school. Did that for 2 years, basically getting all the general stuff out of the way but not knowing what type of engineering I wanted to do. I ended up quitting college because I wasn't sure if that's what I wanted to do or not anymore. Lots of things change. So, after going out into the relay world and working as a server and just basically getting myself figured out, I realized that I did want to be an engineer. I ended up going back to school for civil engineering, did even better in school than the past because I was positive on what I wanted to do. Graduated and got an amazing job right out of school and now I've worked on 2 of the most amazing construction projects since I graduated 3 years ago. 
I think it would be best to go find someone in that career you are thinking about and ask them their thoughts. You can go on linked in and ask many people their thoughts. 
Good luck!! Most importantly don't just do something because other people tell you it's good money or that's what they want you to do. Try to find something that you really want to do. 
Or you could even spend the first year of college taking a few random classes to figure out what you want to do. Don't be like some people I know that didn't know what they wanted so they randomly picked a major, stuck with it and graduated, and now don't want anything to do with that field. Really try to find something you like to do.

I’m a dental assistant... been one for about a year so far.  There’s lots of pros & cons to it. Lots of doctors are shitty to work for but if you find a good office you’re set

I’m a nurse and have always wanted to be a nurse. Every single day I question if I made the right choice but I couldn’t imagine doing anything else because I’m so good at what I do!

I ALWAYS knew I wanted to be a teacher. However, now I wish I’d explored more options for a career when I was younger. 
I like my job and enjoy working with children, plus with one of our own on the way it makes a lot of sense for now but I will be looking at different careers again in a few years. 
Problem is it feels like Teaching is all I know...keep your options open for a while!
