Would you want the ring?

I've always wanted my grandma's engagement ring when I get engaged. The problem is my grandfather cheated on my grandma. Then my dad gave the ring to my mom and they need up divorced. My mom got remarried and wore that ring instead of the tint ring her husband gave her and they are currently going through a divorce. I don't know that I want that ring anymore because I feel like it would bring bad things I guess I don't know.

Why not just use the ring in the ceremony, as it obviously means a lot to you. Then have your own ring that doesn't have any history attached to it.

I would accept it an heirloom but not to wear and definitely not AS my engagement ring. As much as it may suck, I'd want to start over totally fresh; not with a ring associated with so much failure.

I don't believe in superstitious stuff like this. I've known people on the other end of that scale, used grandmas ring, grandma was married forever, gushy heart felt love story. And now, those that used it are getting divorced.

I own my Grandma's wedding ring, their marriage also failed.  I guess i see it as a symbol of a path that created me.  Even though the marriage did fail, without it I wouldn't exist.
