When is it best to move in with your SO?

Is it best to live together with your SO before getting married, engaged, or married?

I don't want it to get to a "we're living a married life so why get married?" situation.

My boyfriend and I have thought of living together but we aren't ready for marriage so I'd like to know which would you personally decide on doing?

I have known people who have lived with their SO's before engagement, during engagement and once married. 
I personally lived with my husband before we got engaged. . Hell, it was not even 3 months since we had met that we moved in together..lol.. he was one of those "cant we just pretend".. I told him I was NOT that type of woman.. I was the marrying kind.. and if he wanted to be with me... its called marriage. .lol.. he bought it ;)

We moved in after being married, not because I cared about tradition all that much but because I knew there would be no other time id want it more than before moving in together- I know myself & I know I'd grow comfortable & not want to plan a wedding after life/reality sinks in(paying bills, schedules etc.) Personally for us, it worked 100% :) 
We dated 7 years before getting married though and had a short 6 month engagement.

For me personally, I wanted to live with someone to see if we were definitely compatible before deciding anything as big as marriage.
I lived with my husband for 5 years before we got married, we also bought a house together before we got engaged.

Whenever you want lol me and my fiancé moved in together after our 4 year anniversary, we were only boyfriend & girlfriend. Not planning our wedding for another few years as baby 2 is on her way! If you feel ready to move in with him, go for it!

I moved in with my then bf before we were engaged, but we had talked about marriage and knew it was in our near future. 4 months after buying our house we were engaged and a year later, married. Everyone's situation is different but I wouldn't suggest making a big decision like that until you are both on the same page about marriage or whatever. Especially because if you break up (on bad terms) one of you will be out of a place to live. Good luck to you both! :)

We moved in together when we were 18...no one could tell us otherwise. He proposed 3 months after that to let me know he was serious, and we were married the following winter (a year or so later) again by ourselves no one could tell us otherwise 😝...we are now 5 years married and happy.

I think some people forget that life has a way of laughing at the rules you place on other people (get married before living together, wait till marriage for sex, be 30 and virgin, take no risks). We can't all live like that, because some of us succeed and are very happy, and some who follow all the rules really wish they hadn't.

Thats 100% up to you and your SO, I moved in very quickly with my now husband, we had talked in the phone for months but really only been around each other for a few weeks. My thoughts on it, you learn a lot more about a person when you live with them (no room to be fake) but make sure you are caring for yourself and not just spending all your time with them, also make sure you have a job, never know when or if things will go sour so make sure you can care for yourself
