Call it supper sometimes & dinner sometimes. I’m used to both sayings.

Supper is what my grandparents from Falmouth Kentucky call it lol so I’m thinking it’s the more country old fashioned way of saying it.

Dinner is the main meal of the day. For most days of the week, dinner and supper are the same thing except on Sundays. On Sunday, dinner is the meal served at noonish and supper happens in the evening.
