TTC and Mexico - zika?

I’m TTC and just found an amazing deal on a trip to the Cancun area. I know Zika is still around, but I feel like its effects were blown out of proportion. Should I book the trip?

i was in mexico for 3 weeks and when i came back my husband and i had intercourse and i found out recently im pregnant! i totally forgot about the zika!🙄🙄🙄😥😥 but i guess there was only 3 cases of zika in the state i was in. i did get bitten by mosquitos. 
just dont risk it. if u do go then use lots of mosquito repellent everyday!

I wouldn't. Our baby was at risk for Zika and was monitored through out my pregnacy.  He is now healthy and Zika free, but it was extremely stressful and nerve wracking at the time. In my opinion, if you are traveling to a country with a Zika risk, you need to be prepared to wait the 6 months after your return before trying to concieve.

Do you really want to risk your child’s life like that? Ask your doctor. It’s not blown out of proportion. If you catch it, or your husband does, the effects for your child can be dire.

“I feel like it’s effects were blown out of proportion” really? All over my OB there’s posters everywhere warning about Zika with the cold hard facts and statistics of the virus. There were more warnings about Zika than asking pregnant women to get the flu shot. They wouldn’t talk about it so much if it truly “wasn’t a concern.” If you truly want a baby, why even risk it?
